Principal’s Message

Superintendent Dr. John Baker is hosting “Coffee with the Superintendent” for John Gill families in the staff room on Monday, March 18 at 8:30am. This is a great opportunity to talk with the superintendent about the direction of the district and the John Gill campus that will house the Orion Alternative Parent Participation Program and Mandarin Immersion Program. The parent participation is encouraged but not mandatory.

Danny G. Dance Show for Grades k-2

The dance performance for grades k-2 except room 8 is:

Date: March 5

Time: 6:00pm students arrive for final rehearsal. 6:30pm performance time.

Due to seating capacity, each student can bring up to 2 guests. Pizza sold for $1 a slice

Parent Teacher Conferences

In the second trimester, conferences are optional for students that are at or above grade level both academically or socially.

Teachers will be sending home report cards to families on March 11.

RCSD Gifted and Talented Education Information.,

The RCSD offers a Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) pull out program for 4th, 5th & 6th graders located at Clifford and Hoover Schools next year. If you would like your child in current grades 3/4/5 tested for GATE this Spring, you can read more information about the GATE program on the Parent Information website at:http://www.rcsd.k12.ca.us/Page/5467

Parents must complete a permission form for their student to be tested. Deadline is March 16.


Transition Team Brings our Communities Together Parents and staff leaders from John Gill and Orion Alternative are coming together along with Principal Rivera to form our Transition Team. The role of this team of 15 people is to build one strong community with our innovative programs. The team met for the first time with Superintendent Dr. Baker on February 28. Pasta Fundraiser for the PTA

Monday, March 4th is the last day to turn in the paper order for the pasta fundraiser.

Online orders will be open until the end of March.
