• PE+
The Sequoia Healthcare District funded physical education program, PE+, begins its second year in 2013-14.

This highly valued program has made physical education available to 5,000 K-5th grade students in nine elementary schools 2 days per week. This physical activity program also supports learning by addressing physical, emotional and social health.
PE+ is a comprehensive, sequential physical education curriculum providing kindergarten-5th grade students in ten Redwood City School District schools with PE classes twice weekly.
The PE+ program uses a holistic approach to address the social, emotional, physical and academic needs of students and also integrates a nutrition component into the curriculum.
The program is a collaborative effort including PE provider partners Peninsula Community Center and Redwood City Parks, Recreation, and Community Services; the Redwood City School District; and the Sequoia Healthcare District as the funding agency.
The program began at the start of the 2012-13 academic year and currently serves approximately 5,000 students.
