Schools Named Peninsula ‘Family Favorites’. Four Schools Win Bay Area Awards
School staff across Redwood City School District (RCSD) work tirelessly to ensure rigorous education, a safe and joyous environment, and a supportive system for all students at every school. That dedication to excellence is acknowledged through the latest reader’s choice award in Bay Area Parent magazine.
Bay Area Parent, founded in 1983, has long been a go-to reference for those seeking quality programs and services for their children. Each year, the magazine holds a reader’s choice survey asking parents and guardians to nominate the best of the best across several categories.
Four RCSD school sites and programs were awarded gold, silver, or bronze in Peninsula region education categories for 2024:
Best Language Immersion School
Adelante Selby Spanish Immersion School: Gold
Orion Alternative Elementary School: Silver
Best Public or Charter Elementary School
North Star Academy: Gold
Orion Alternative Elementary School: Bronze
Best Public or Charter Middle School
Kennedy Middle School: Gold
North Star Academy: Silver
“We are incredibly proud of all 12 RCSD schools,” expressed Superintendent Dr. John Baker. “RCSD staff members across all 12 campuses are dedicated to the success and wellbeing of each RCSD child. We thank our families for being strong advocates and for their continued commitment to ensuring our students receive the best education possible."
The four selected RCSD schools, along with winners across several categories, are highlighted in Bay Area Parent magazine’s end-of-July special edition.
