North Star Academy Honored as a 2023 California Distinguished School
Living up to their motto of “Never Stop Achieving,” North Star Academy has been recognized among 356 elementary schools statewide to be named as a California Distinguished School.
The California Distinguished School Award, started in 1985, celebrates a return after a temporary hiatus due to the pandemic. Selection of California Distinguished Schools is made by the California Department of Education (CDE).
The CDE analyzed performance-based data provided in the 2022 California School Dashboard to select schools for this prestigious award. Schools proved their resilience across the state as they faced unprecedented challenges in recent years.
North Star Academy Principal Sara Shackel praised the efforts of the school community and supporters.
"This is a wonderful recognition of our community,” she said. “Our staff, families, and scholars have worked so hard through very difficult times, and we are grateful for each of their dedication and determination. We are very fortunate to be a part of this wonderful community of learners and we will continue to work hard to live up to our motto.”
Academic rigor and personal growth are an unwavering focus at North Star Academy where students demonstrate critical, logical, and creative thinking skills throughout the core curriculum while deepening their community connections and engagement.
