Interested in the Mathematics Curriculum for K-5? RCSD Invites Community to Review Proposed Instructional Materials

Redwood City School District (RCSD) invites parents, community members, and staff to participate in a review of potential mathematics curriculum for the K-5 grade levels. This public review will be available through the end of the day on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

Members of the public can review the curriculum by visiting the RCSD District Office, which is located at 750 Bradford St. in Redwood City. The District Office is open to the public Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. The instructional materials for the recommended curriculum will be available in the Boardroom.

After a two-year process to select and pilot the K-5 mathematics instructional materials, the K-5 Mathematics Adoption Committee, made up of teachers from throughout the school district and led by staff development instructional coaches, is recommending the Imagine Learning Illustrative Mathematics K-5 Math as the K-5 mathematics curriculum.

After reviewing the curriculum, members of the public are invited to share their feedback on the curriculum by completing a form available with the curriculum display.

RCSD is currently in the process of adopting district wide science curriculum for the K-5 grades. Part of the criteria for adoption is to hold a public review before introducing a new curriculum in the classroom. The process allows parents, community members, and staff the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed curriculum. Based on all input gathered from this review, a recommendation will be made to the RCSD Board of Trustees for formal adoption.
