Henry Ford Elementary Named a National PTA School of Excellence

A Redwood City School District (RCSD) elementary school community has started the 2017-18 school year with a national recognition to add to its list of accolades. The National PTA has chosen RCSD’s Henry Ford Elementary School as a National School of Excellence for the 2017-18 and the 2018-19 school years, recognizing Henry Ford’s partnership with its PTA as both organizations work together to improve the educational experience and school environment for every child.

“What a treat! This is such a delight to begin the new school year with such an honor,” expressed Henry Ford Elementary School Ms. Lynne Griffiths upon learning the news. “We are fortunate that Henry Ford’s PTA is made up of fantastic parents who volunteer their time and resources for the benefit of our wonderful students and now the nation knows what we’ve known all along. I am delighted that our parents are receiving the recognition that they deserve.”

Henry Ford is one of only 11 schools in all of California and one of two in the Bay Area that earned this honor. This past school year, Henry Ford Elementary made great strides with Improving Family Engagement in Education. The school’s Ambassador program and rollout of Project Cornerstone were key initiatives that contributed to the distinction.

As a National PTA School of Excellence, families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success and the PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement.
