Do you have a 3 or 4 year old child? Preschool Enrollment for the New School Year is Now Open

It’s time to register for preschool! Redwood City School District (RCSD) provides high quality state preschool services for free or at a low cost to families with the goal of preparing all children for success in school and life. Enrollment is open April to July of each year. The first day of preschool is Friday, August 19, 2022.

The preschool program forms the foundation for later life learning in all domains of development, including socio-emotional, language,

literacy, and mathematics. Preschoolers develop the skills to interact well with others, in a continuous process of critical thinking and problem solving on challenges presented by a shared environment with adult professionals and children of varying ages and abilities. They also gain foundational knowledge on a wide range of academic vocabulary, literary styles, and scientific processes crucial to later school achievement in all subject areas.

The award-winning RCSD State Preschool Program offers a teacher-child ratio of 1:8 at the Adelante Selby, Garfield, Hawes, Hoover, Orion Alternative, Roosevelt, and Taft school sites. Offering flexibility to parents, the preschool program is available in part-day and full-day services. Full-day classes are generally open from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and operate year-round to accommodate working parents.

Parents may call (650) 482-2417 or visit the RCSD State Preschool to enroll.

In addition to the State Preschool Program, a private Mandarin Immersion PreK offers services at Orion Alternative Elementary School. Click here to learn more about these services and to register with this private provider, which is a different process than the State Preschool Program. Mandarin Immersion PreK students have priority for enrollment in the TK-5 Mandarin Immersion Program at Orion Alternative.
