Community Invited to Shape Future RCSD Facilities Master Plan
Redwood City School District (RCSD) is gearing up for a new phase in its Facilities Master Plan (FMP) development process, inviting community members to engage in upcoming opportunities to provide feedback and shape the future of school facilities across the district.
The RCSD FMP, a comprehensive initiative aimed at addressing the unique infrastructure needs of each RCSD school, has progressed significantly since the process started last fall by forming committees at each school site. The school committees -- made up of parents, staff, and community members -- have helped to identify the needs of each school campus.
Engagement Opportunities Ahead
Looking ahead, RCSD has scheduled several community forums to facilitate further input and discussion on the draft projects. Scheduled for this spring, these forums will allow all community stakeholders to review site-specific plans, share feedback, and pose questions directly to the district FMP committee. To ensure broad participation, School Board Trustees have asked for one of these meetings to be conducted online.
The community forums are scheduled as follows:
Date: Tuesday, March 25

A Community Investment in Schools
The progress of the Facilities Master Plan would not be possible without the support of Redwood City voters who approved Measure S in 2022. The bond measure, dedicated to modernizing and improving RCSD school facilities, is funding critical upgrades to ensure safe, inspiring, and future-ready learning environments.
“We are grateful to our community for investing in the future of RCSD students,” Superintendent Dr. John Baker said. “Measure S is making it possible to transform our schools, and we are committed to using these funds responsibly to meet the needs of our students, staff, and families.”
Timeline and Next Steps
By April, the district aims to finalize project prioritization and cost estimates, setting the stage for a Board study session April 23 and the publication of the final FMP in May. The Board is expected to review and approve the final plan at the May 14 Board meeting.
The district encourages all RCSD stakeholders to stay informed and participate actively in the upcoming engagement opportunities to help refine and finalize the district FMP.
Together, these efforts will ensure that RCSD facilities align with educational goals and community expectations for years to come.
