November 2024 North Star Modernization and Construction Update

The District Facilities Master Planning Committee recently held its first meeting to receive input from the North Star Academy Site Committee. During this meeting, several key topics were discussed, including but not limited to: 

  • The need for air conditioning in classrooms. 
  • Improving the safety of the drop-off and improving the flow of traffic during drop-off and pick-up. Repurposing the promenade, parking and drop-off area.
  • Classroom modernization, including modernizing or replacing the single-story building to allow for additional classrooms.
  • Adding space for science classrooms, music, art and flex space which could be used for a variety of different classes or meeting space.
  • Adding shade to the blacktop. 
  • Irrigation for the garden, potentially integrated into an outdoor classroom. 

The district facilities master planning committee is reviewing all the feedback received and working on potential solutions to enhance the campus and address the needs expressed by the school site committee.

A follow-up meeting is being coordinated for early to mid-December to review these proposed solutions, prioritize campus needs, and gather additional feedback from the committee.
