Board Approves New Plan to Upgrade School Facilities

In a step toward reimagining the future of Redwood City School District (RCSD) school campuses, the Board of Trustees officially approved a long-term Facilities Master Plan (FMP) on June 11, 2025.

The plan charts the course for improving classrooms, infrastructure, and learning spaces across RCSD—identifying more than $819 million in needed repairs, upgrades, modernization, and construction over the next 8 to 10 years.

The FMP reflects a year of in-depth planning that began in June 2024, with the goal of ensuring safe, modern, and equitable learning environments for all students. The process included facility condition assessments, enrollment projections, reviews of classroom adequacy, and extensive community engagement, including school site committees, a districtwide survey, and several communitywide meetings.

Thanks to the voters’ support for Measure S, which provides $298 million in bond funding, the district is now ready to move from planning to action. Project prioritization is now the next step as part of the implementation plan, which will come before the Board for approval. 

Superintendent Dr. Baker thanked the community for its continued support, saying,

“This plan reflects our shared vision for the future of RCSD. We are deeply grateful to our Measure S voters for helping us invest in safe, inspiring schools for every student.”

School Board Hears Audit Results: 2015 Measure T and 2022 Measure S Bond Funds

The performance audit revealed a positive assessment of the district's management, with no significant problems or disagreements identified. Spending on bond projects was found to align with what voters approved, ensuring accountability and transparency. Additionally, the audit confirmed that payroll and procurement procedures adhere to legal requirements, and no significant accounting issues or unreported financial problems were discovered. Overall, the audit concluded that the bond funds are well-managed and used appropriately.
