School of Choice Priority Placement

All School of Choice applicants are entered into a random computerized lottery. Families are offered placement following this priority process:

School of Choice Priority Placement:

1st Priority
Siblings of students who already attend the school and who will attend the school in the same academic year.

2nd Priority:
Students currently on a School of Choice waitlist and have reapplied to stay on the waitlist.

3rd Priority:
New School of Choice applicants.

4th Priority:
Siblings of current Interdistrict Transfer students who live outside the Redwood City School District boundary. This applies to children whose parents/guardians work within the RCSD attendance zone. 
     4a. Interdistrict Transfer students must have a sibling who already attends the school and who will attend the school in the same academic year.

5th Priority:
Interdistrict Transfer students who live outside the Redwood City School District boundary. This applies to children whose parents/guardians work within the RCSD attendance zone. 

The North Star Academy Priority Placement is as Follows:

The priority order is slightly different for North Star Academy. In grades 4-8, Top priority is given to students who are already on the waitlist and have reapplied through school of choice, by appropriate deadlines. Every qualified student is automatically entered in the random computerized lottery and assigned to one of the groups described below:

1st priority:
Qualified **siblings of 3rd-7th grade students who already attend North Star Academy and who currently attend a RCSD school.

2nd priority
Qualified students currently attending *Adelante Selby, Clifford, Garfield, Henry Ford, Hoover, Kennedy, MIT, Orion, Roosevelt, Roy Cloud, or Taft.

3rd priority
Qualified **siblings of 3rd-7th grade students who already attend North Star Academy and who currently reside in the RCSD attendance boundary but do not attend a RCSD school.

4th priority
Qualified Students who reside within the RCSD boundary, but do not currently attend RCSD schools, including students currently attending private schools, home schooled students, and students who have transferred to public schools in other districts.

5th priority
Qualified **siblings of 3rd-7th grade students who already attend North Star Academy, and are requesting an inter-district (outside RCSD boundaries) transfer. (Transfers are based on District approval.) 

6th priority
Other qualified students requesting an inter-district (outside RCSD boundaries) transfer. (Transfers are based on District approval.)
