2026-27 School Year Enrollment
Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child in Redwood City School District (RCSD).
RCSD is a stellar PreK-8 school district known for its unique, popular, and award-winning programs. Families who live within the RCSD attendance zone may begin the enrollment process by completing an online application.
Enrolling After Start of Current School Year
Enrollment for the 2026-27 school year opened in November of 2025. Available seats are limited now that the school year has started, which was on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
New students enrolling after the start of the school year will be placed based on seat availability.
All applications are completed online. Families will need:
1. Student's birth certificate or passport
2. Updated Immunization records:
-
The following doses are required for PreK and TK (18 months through 5 years of age) enrollment:
-
4 doses of DTaP, 3 Polio, 3 Hep B, and 1 Varicella
- The following doses are required for K-6 grade enrollment:
- 5 doses of DTaP, 4 Polio, 3 Hep B, 2 MMR, and 2 varicella
- 5 doses of DTaP, 4 Polio, 3 Hep B, 2 MMR, and 2 varicella
- One additional dose of DTaP is required for enrollment in 7th grade and higher. In addition, all middle school students new to RCSD should make sure their updated immunization records include the two required doses of varicella.
-
All required doses must be clearly visible in the document uploaded to the application.
3. Proof of Residency (two different documents)
At least one of the two required documents must be selected from List 1: Evidence Tied to the Residential Premises. The second document may also be selected from List 1 or may be selected from List 2: Supplemental Evidence of Residency. Two documents from List 2 shall not, by themselves, satisfy the district’s standard proof-of-residency requirement.
Acceptable combinations are:
1. Two documents from List 1, from different sources; or
2. One document from List 1 and one document from List 2, from different sources.
Two documents from List 2 are not sufficient to establish residency under the district’s standard verification process.
Bills, statements, payment receipts, pay stubs, government correspondence, health benefit documentation, and other periodically issued documents submitted as evidence of residency must be dated within the previous 60 days unless otherwise specified. Documents that are not periodically issued, such as a current lease or property tax record, must reflect the parent/guardian’s current residential address.
Acceptable List 1 documentation includes:
1. A current rental property contract or lease showing the parent/guardian’s name and residential property address
2. Current rental payment documentation showing the parent/guardian’s name and residential property address
3. A current gas or electric service contract, statement, or payment receipt showing the parent/guardian’s name and service address
4. A current water or sewer service contract, statement, or payment receipt showing the parent/guardian’s name and service address
5. A current garbage service contract, statement, or payment receipt showing the parent/guardian’s name and service address
6. A current cable or residential internet service contract, statement, or payment receipt showing the parent/guardian’s name and service address
7. A current landline telephone service contract, statement, or payment receipt showing the parent/guardian’s name and service address
8. Current homeowner’s or renter’s insurance documentation showing the parent/guardian’s name and the insured residential premises
9. Property tax documentation or current mortgage documentation showing the parent/guardian’s name and residential property address, subject to the additional requirements below
Documents submitted under List 1 that are bills, statements, or payment receipts must be dated within the previous 60 days.
Acceptable List 2 documentation includes:
1. A pay stub dated within the previous 60 days showing the parent/guardian’s name and residential address within district boundaries
2. Current voter registration showing the parent/guardian’s name and residential address within district boundaries
3. Official correspondence from a federal, state, county, or local government agency, dated within the previous 60 days, that identifies the parent/guardian by name and shows the residential address within district boundaries. Examples may include official correspondence regarding taxes; public benefits, including WIC or other assistance programs; court or administrative matters; licensing; or other official government business
General advertisements, informational mailers, voter outreach, campaign materials, or other mass-produced government communications shall not be accepted as proof of residency.
4. Current vehicle registration showing the parent/guardian’s name and residential address within district boundaries
5. A health insurance statement, eligibility or coverage notice, or other official health benefit documentation issued or dated within the previous 60 days showing the parent/guardian’s name and residential address within district boundaries. A health insurance identification card, by itself, shall not be accepted as proof of residency
6. Other reliable documentation accepted by the Superintendent or designee that reasonably supports the parent/guardian’s physical residency
No combination of two List 2 documents shall, by itself, satisfy the district’s standard residency documentation requirement.
Bank statements, credit-card statements, and cellular/mobile telephone bills shall not ordinarily be accepted as proof of residency because the billing or mailing address associated with such accounts does not, by itself, demonstrate that the account holder physically resides at that address.
Please Note:
A planned or future move into the district or into a particular school attendance area does not establish current residency. A future lease commencement date, pending home purchase, property in escrow, anticipated closing date, construction or renovation of a residence, or stated intention to move at a later date shall not, by itself, establish residency or entitle a student to enroll based on that future address.
Residency shall be established using the family’s current physical residence at the time of enrollment. A future address shall not be used to reserve or secure enrollment or school placement before the student and parent/guardian actually reside at that address, except when otherwise required by law or expressly permitted by district policy.
Property ownership within district boundaries does not, by itself, establish district residency. When property tax or mortgage documentation is the only List 1 document submitted, the second required document must provide reasonable evidence of actual occupancy or service at the physical residence.
4. Photo ID for parent or guardian
5. Health Exams
- Health Exam by a physician is required for kindergarten or 90 days following entry into first grade.
- Oral health assessment is required by kindergarten or first grader enrolling in public school for their first time.
Please note: Your application will be completed once all documents have been uploaded and received by RCSD. Once all valid documents have been turned in, RCSD will then process the application for placement.
Please use the enrollment application that follows for new 2026-27 students entering TK and K-8 grades as well as Special Education PreK students with an IEP (Individualized Education Plan).
