2025-26 School Year Enrollment
Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child in Redwood City School District (RCSD).
RCSD is a stellar PreK-8 school district known for its unique, popular, and award-winning programs. If you are interested in enrolling your student for the 2025-26 school year, we invite you to complete your application online.
Enrolling After Start of Current School Year
Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year opened in November of 2024. Available seats are limited now that the school year has started, which was on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
New students enrolling after the start of the school year will be placed based on seat availability.
All applications are completed online. Families will need:
To complete your student’s online application, you will need to upload the following:
- Student's birth certificate or passport
- Updated Immunization records:
- The following doses are required for PreK and TK (18 months through 5 years of age) enrollment:
- 4 doses of DTaP, 3 Polio, 3 Hep B, and 1 Varicella
- 4 doses of DTaP, 3 Polio, 3 Hep B, and 1 Varicella
- The following doses are required for PreK and TK (18 months through 5 years of age) enrollment:
- The following doses are required for K-6 grade enrollment:
- 5 doses of DTaP, 4 Polio, 3 Hep B, 2 MMR, and 2 varicella
- 5 doses of DTaP, 4 Polio, 3 Hep B, 2 MMR, and 2 varicella
- One additional dose of DTaP is required for enrollment in 7th grade and higher. In addition, all middle school students new to RCSD should make sure their updated immunization records include the two required doses of varicella.
All required doses must be clearly visible in the document uploaded to the application.
- Two (2) different and current documents showing proof of residence: utility bills, rental agreement, vehicle registration, etc.
- Photo ID for parent or guardian

In addition, please note:
- Health Exam by a physician is required for kindergarten or 90 days following entry into first grade.
- Oral health assessment is required by kindergarten or first grader enrolling in public school for their first time.
Please note: Your application will be completed once all documents have been uploaded and received by RCSD. Once all valid documents have been turned in, RCSD will then process the application for placement.
Please use the enrollment application that follows for new 2025-26 students entering TK and K-8 grades as well as Special Education PreK students with an IEP (Individualized Education Plan).
All other PreK children need to enroll with the California State Preschool Program.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten Enrollment:
Children born between 09/02/2020 and 09/01/2021 are eligible for TK
Children born between 09/02/2019 and 09/01/2020 are eligible for Kindergarten
In Redwood City School District (RCSD), all students are placed in the grade level according to their birthdate. Families requesting a different grade level will need an official document from the student's former school showing completion of the grade level.
Face-to-Face Support at WellBeing Center:
Should a family not have access to a device at home, district staff is available to guide families as they use a district device at the WellBeing Center while completing their child's application. Families can make an appointment on the following days and times:
Every Tuesday and Wednesday: 9 am-1 pm
The WellBeing Center is located on the MIT campus. While the address for MIT is 400 Duane St., the WellBeing Center is located on the intersection of Duane and Jame streets. This is behind the MIT library and directly across the street from the Sequoia Union High School District.
RCSD staff is available to guide families unless the school district is closed during a holiday. Families can click below to make an appointment.
Enrolling in the California State Preschool Program
Families with preschool children should contact the RCSD Child Development Center (CDC), by calling (650) 482-2417, which is a separate process.

Please Note: Families with special education PreK students with an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) should use the application at the top of this page.
Transferring to Another Program or School:
Families who are interested in transferring to another program or school other than their neighborhood school need to complete a School of Choice Application.
New families to the district need to register first before filling out a School of Choice application. School of Choice applications will be processed only after a child has been enrolled and confirmed at their assigned neighborhood school. The School of Choice application will appear as an option at the end of the registration form.
