Special Education PTA of Redwood City (SEPTAR)
Who We Are:
SEPTAR was founded in 2007 as a way to bring families and educators together to support students with disabilities in Redwood City School District (RCSD). SEPTAR serves every school within the district, from Pre-K through 8th grade, more than 1,300 special education students.
What We Do:
SEPTAR provides a platform to support families by connecting them to resources, activities, and having social events. We have monthly association meetings that provide speaker presentations on topics such as Inclusion and Multi-Tiered Support System (MTSS), Executive Functioning, and the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Process. SEPTAR and RCSD work together to have an Inclusive Schools Week, designed to promote disability awareness by providing a calendar of events, speaker presentations, and an art showcase. We provide mini grants to teachers for trainings and classroom needs.
What We Want to Do:
Provide funding to support inclusive after school programs and music/art classes.
Support Family to Family Connections within the Special Education classrooms by providing snacks and activities for social gatherings.
Purchase marketing materials to increase visibility of SEPTAR.
Have funding to pay presenters who we want to speak to our community.
Donate to SEPTAR:
SEPTAR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax deductible. Tax ID #56-2636944.
