Katherine Rivera | Director of Multilingual English Learners and Categorical Programs
Katherine Rivera is a bilingual educator currently serving as the Director of Multilingual English Learners and Categorical Programs for RCSD. The Department of Multilingual English Learners and Categorical Programs works collaboratively with all RCSD educators to support English Language Learners (ELLs) with equity and access to an excellent education in addition to overseeing and monitoring categorical programs mandated by federal and state governments.
Ms. Rivera believes in the transformative power of education, especially for those navigating the complexities of learning a new language. The work of the Department of Multilingual English Learners and Categorical Programs is grounded in three fundamental beliefs:

Katherine Rivera has served the students and families of the RCSD community for close to three decades as a bilingual educator, migrant education teacher, English as a second language instructor for adults, instructional coach as an EL specialist, and school administrator.
Ms. Rivera used her experience and knowledge of multilingual learners language acquisition to lead the development and implementation of RCSD’s award winning Mandarin Immersion program.
