Preschool Philosophy & Curriculum

RCSD believes in building a working partnership with parents, family and the community to provide a child development program that nurtures a healthy sense of self-worth, fosters development of skills in all developmental domains, encourages the development of independence, and promotes acceptance of diversity. We offer a play-based program where children learn through engaging with teachers, parents, materials and hands-on activities. Early literacy and math skills, as well as learning strategies necessary for later school success are taught through both teacher-planned and child-initiated curricula.



The Child Development Centers provide an age-appropriate educational program that fosters skill development in the cognitive, language, social, emotional, and physical domains. Our child-centered approach and environment encourage exploration, creativity, and problem-solving where children learn how to learn and achieve kindergarten readiness. Curriculum content is aligned with kindergarten standards and includes early literacy, math, science and creative arts activities. Parents are informed regularly about their children’s developmental progress and are encouraged to support learning at home.

Our Teachers

All teaching staff are trained and experienced in Early Childhood Education. Lead teachers hold a Child Development Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. We maintain a ratio of 1 teacher for 8 children. Maximum group size is 24.

Quality Standards

Our facilities are licensed by the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division. As a state-funded program, we must meet rigorous California Department of Education standards for staffing, curriculum, classroom environment, child assessments, nutrition services and family engagement.
