SPECIAL BOARD MEETING
1. Call to Order
President Márquez called the Special Board meeting to order at 11:35 a.m.
1.1 Roll Call
Present at the Special Board Meeting: President Cecilia I. Márquez, Vice-President Janet Lawson, Trustees Mike Wells, Alisa MacAvoy, and David Weekly; and Superintendent Baker.
Others present during the Special Board meeting: CBO Rick Edson and Assistant Superintendent Liz Wolfe

President Márquez welcomed those present.
3. Changes to the Agenda
None.
4. Approval of the Agenda
The School Board approved the agenda as submitted, (Wells, MacAvoy; 5-0).

6. Discussion Items
6.1 Discussion of Strategic Directions for Future Board Meetings
Executive Cabinet met with the School Board members to discuss a strategic direction for future board meetings.
Superintendent Baker explained to the board members that he attended a session where he learned how other districts provide information at the board meetings. He requested that the board members give their input on what focus the board meetings should have.
The Board Trustees discussed their ideas on what information they would like to hear at the board meetings to ensure time for quality items.
The Board members agreed to limit the school report discussions to 40-45 minutes per site. They were in agreement that school admins would have 20 minutes to share their school report and allow 25 minutes for the board members to share their questions/comments. Additionally, the School Board recommended starting using a timer as a time management tool for board meetings.

The School Board moved to closed session at 1:00 p.m. (Wells, Weekly; 5-0)
