MEASURE T BOND PROGRAM STUDY SESSION VIA TELECONFERENCE

1.         Call to Order  

 

President Alisa MacAvoy called the Measure T Bond Program Study Session to order at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom Teleconference Meeting.

 

Present during the study session: President Alisa MacAvoy, Vice-President María Díaz-Slocum, Trustees Cecilia I. Márquez, Janet Lawson, Mike Wells and Superintendent John R. Baker.

 

Others Present: Chief Business Official Priscilla Aquino-Dichoso, Assistant Superintendent Linda Montes, Don Dias, Will Robertson, Sarah Garrett, Gonzálo Cordova, Itzel Ramírez, Cathy Chui, Meghan O’Reilly-Green.

President MacAvoy welcomed those present.  The School Board dispensed with the Pledge of Allegiance.

There were no changes to the agenda. 

 

4.         Approval of Agenda

 

The School Board approved the agenda as submitted, (Lawson, Márquez; 5-0).

 

5.         Oral Communication

 

Cathy Chui, parent of a 3rd grade student at Mandarin Immersion, addressed the School Board by thanking the School Board for supporting students and families.  Ms. Chui expressed that she was very excited that students were returning to school.  Ms. Chui added that she is grateful for many things, especially one being that the two kindergarten classes have been filled by Redwood City students.   Ms. Chui reiterated that it is important for her and her family to have a strong Mandarin Immersion Program.

 

Meghan O’Reilly-Green, parent at RCSD, expressed her appreciation towards Superintendent Baker and the School Board for providing the Mandarin Immersion an opportunity to thrive at the Redwood City School District.  Ms. O’Reilly-Green commented that there has been a high interest from families to enroll their students in the program.   

 

6.         Bond Program Action Items

 

6.1     Measure T Bond Program Budget Study, Update and Adoption  

 

The Measure T Bond Program provided the School Board and Superintendent Baker with a formal review and update of the projects, program budgets, and recommendations.  The presentation provided an overview of costs and labor, review and testing of assumptions, objective debate, parametric and sensitivity testing, and intensive use of software planning, managing and tracking system. 

 

The Measure T Bond Program included updates on revenue transactions and budget reports, which showed the funding sources and budget expenditure for each project since September 16, 2020.

 

The School Board and Superintendent Baker thanked the Measure T Bond Program Team for all of their hard work, transparency, and for the wonderful construction projects that are making the schools look beautiful. 

 

The School Board approved the Measure T Bond Program budget study, update and adoption (Lawson/Wells; 5-0).
