Hilary Paulson was elected to the RCSD Board of Trustees for her first four-year term in 2008. She led the Board of Education as President of the Board in 2013 and 2017.
The school district took action after an independent financial consultant analyzed the RCSD budget and concluded that with declining enrollment, RCSD could not sustain 16 schools with 7,500 students and specifically schools with an enrollment of less than 400 students.

John Gill Elementary School houses two oustanding RCSD programs.
The Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) program integrates computer science and engineering across all content areas. STEAM at John Gill fosters curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
Students in RCSD's Mandarin Dual Language Immersion Program attain fluency in communication, reading, and writing in both Mandarin and English. John Gill students are able to continue their K-12 Mandarin Immersion progression at Kennedy Middle School and Wooside High School.
