Welcome to Mrs. Khan's website.
I am really excited to have your child in my class. Let me tell you something about myself. I have a BSc in Chemistry from the University of London, single subject teaching credential in Chemistry, supplemental in Math and MA in Education from San Francisco State Universty. I love traveling and enjoying the out doors.
I teach eighth grade Science. My Philosophy of Education is to challenge students and watch them grow to their full potential.. I will help students to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals. I will assist them in discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas. My job is to teach, guide and support my students.. I will provide a safe learning environment where learning takes place and where mistakes can be made. I have zero tolerance for any putdowns.
To my students, your job will be willing to take risks as you learn new stuff and be brave. Brave enough to ask for help when you need it. Brave enough to talk to me when someone is bothering you. Brave enough to know that I will never be “mad” or “angry” with you. I will always have a plan. It will be on the board. You will know what is coming. But you should also know that plans change and you need to listen to these changes, and ask questions. Make sure you understand. Allow me to help keep things clear and simple. If you are confused there are never ever too many questions. There is no way to fail by asking a question. I have confidence in your ability to learn and I know all of you are capable of many things. You can build, teach, act, sell, describe, heal and fix.
We have these journeys and choices ahead of us in life. But we have a smaller, and still a very important journey here today and tomorrow. We have the eighth grade journey. It is a journey of small victories; and cuts and bruises. We will live, try, fail and survive over and over again. Let this be your best year ever
