    GATE Program: RCSD offers a Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) pull out program for 4th, 5th & 6th graders located at Clifford and Hoover Schools.  Students are tested in current grades 3/4/5 for GATE in Spring. The GATE program offers students an opportunity to develop socially, emotionally and academically with other identified GATE students.  Projects, field trips and grade level standards based enrichment opportunities are included in the curriculum.  Students attend approximately 1-2x per month for the full school day.     Drama:  Every year Clifford school produces a K-8 musical show in collaboration with San Carlos Children’s Theater.  K – 2nd graders can be in the Ensemble (Opening act) and the 3rd -8th graders who audition get a part in the main cast(no cuts).  Past performances include: Disney’s Beauty & the Beast, JR, Lion King, JR, Peter Pan, JR, The Little Mermaid, JR & Aladdin, JR, Willy Wonka JR.  

    Middle School – Clubs, Music, After School Sports and Band

    Sports: Clifford provides after school sport opportunities for 4th-8th grade students.  Programs are run by the the Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL):

    • 4th — 8th Girls’ Volleyball
    • 4th — 8th Girls’ Basketball
    • 4th — 8th Girls’ Soccer
    • 4th — 8th Boys’ Soccer
    • 4th — 8th Boys’ Basketball
    • 6th — 8th Co-ed Flag Football
    • Co-ed Running program through Sheriff’s Activities League

    On-Campus Enrichment opportunities for 6th -8th grade students outside of daily classes.

    Clifford Middle School Student Government: The Student Government is very active planning fundraisers (Laser Tag, Candy Grams, etc), Spirit Days, Halloween Carnival, Middle school dances and helping at the annual Lap-a-Thon.  They meet a few times each month.

    Dungeons & Dragons Club: D&D meets once a week at lunch time.

    Yearbook Club: The Clifford School Yearbook is created entirely by the middle school students with a teacher advisor.

    Running Club:  Running Club meets daily and lead by teacher advisor

    Middle School Band: Taught by an RCSD teacher, these classes to learn an instrument are taught as a band once a week.  See “Music 6th -8th Grade” for further information.
