Angie Ibarra, Executive Director of Generations United, Inc. is providing support to Fair Oaks families, staff and administrators through an initiative called, Redwood City Reads.  Generations United, Inc is offering English Language Learner classes to parents of students, reading with students with a team of volunteers on campus with a wonderful partnership utilizing the Accelerated Reader Program, and is offering parent workshops.  Additionally,  Generations United identifies tutors to work with students after hours in the comfort of their homes to assist with homework, reading, or catching up in an area of proficiency.

Angie's a Bay Area native born to immigrant parents and understands firsthand the pain of growing up on welfare, with a single Mother and many siblings.  Community development is her passion and she has tirelessly led many efforts in her community.  She serves as Local Missions Coordinator at her church, Peninsula Covenant Church and is on the board of Able Works, a non-profit organization focused on equipping individuals with financial education.  Angie spent 15 years in Corporate America, while volunteering her time reaching out to youth and families.  Her mission is to empower and mobilize a team of volunteers who will work with local schools, providing much needed support and resources to families in the inner city.

For over 25 years. Her passion is to invest in young leaders and encourage those who have been marginalized in our society. Her positive energy, passion and drive to help those in her community are evident in her work.  Her greatest joy is spending time with family, her 2 married daughters, a new granddaughter and countless “adopted” sons and daughters – she is lovingly referred to as “Mama Ang.”
