For the past several years, Fair Oaks has been involved in implementing an exemplary language arts program, called “Success for All.” In an effort to make sure each and every child is reading at the third grade level by the end of third grade, a highly successful program developed at Johns Hopkins University in conjunction with a Reading Recovery specialist have achieved a vast improvement in reading scores. A volunteer tutoring program with over 40 tutors from adjacent and parent communities, along with six AmeriCorps tutors aide the lowest level readers to achieve success. Teachers and tutors receive in-service training to implement the “Success for All” curriculum.
Fair Oaks also has been the recipient of numerous awards for its Fine Arts Program, including the Golden Bell award. The Fine Arts Program integrates classroom curriculum and English Language Development into the arts.
As a community school, Fair Oaks encourages and supports the success of children by providing comprehensive and integrated services that are responsive to the needs of the community. Through the collaborative partners, the school will continue to provided resources and services to families to promote positive social interaction and academic support.
