Currently, the Trustees are elected in “at-large” elections, meaning that each member of the governing board is elected by the registered voters across the school district. Under a “by-trustee” area elections system, distinct geographic electoral trustee areas within the school district will be formed and each trustee area elects one Board member.
The Redwood City School District (RCSD) Board of Education (BOE) seeks the input of the school district’s community as its five members transition from an “at-large” elections process to one in which they will be elected by voters “by-trustee-area.” One of the first steps for the transition is to seek community input regarding the makeup of potential trustee areas.
