Registration is the first step in enrolling in the Redwood City School District.  Whether you live within the boundaries of the Redwood City School District or you live in a neighboring district and want to apply to attend an RCSD school, you must begin by completing a registration form that provides the district with all the information we need to enroll your child.  Please note that if you want your child to attend a different school than your assigned neighborhood school, or you are applying from outside the district, you must also fill out a Schools of Choice Transfer Application after you fill out the School Registration Forms.
From November - June, we offer an online registration process for the next school year, but from July-June we ask that families come to the District Office, 750 Bradford Street, to register for the current school year.
How to Register for the 2017-18 School Year:
Registration, online registration and applications to participate in the Schools of Choice Transfer lottery process for the 2017-18 school year will begin on Saturday, November 5:

How to Register for the 2016-17 School Year:

The online registration period for the 2016-17 school year ended on June 30.  After July 1, please come to the District Office, 750 Bradford St, Redwood City to register in person for the 2016-17 school year.


Please bring:


* Student’s birth certificate

* Student’s immunization record

* Parent or guardian picture ID

* Proofs of address (2)


Please Note: Students who register over the summer are only temporarily enrolled in their neighborhood school for the first 10 days of the school year, and may be moved if the principal and superintendent determine there are not enough seats available at your child’s grade level. Neighborhood students have priority based on space available at the time they register. If space is not available at the neighborhood school, students will be placed at a different school until space becomes available at their neighborhood school. Students are enrolled in the order in which they register. 

How to Apply to Transfer to a Different School
If you want to transfer to a school other than your assigned neighborhood school, please fill out Schools of Choice Transfer Application after completing your registration form. Students applying for Schools of Choice transfers for the 2016-17 school will be placed or waitlisted in the order in which they apply.  
*Order of Enrollment for Neighborhood Schools

1.Students are guaranteed placement in their neighborhood school if space is available at the time they register.

2.Students are enrolled in the order in which they register.

3.If the neighborhood school does not have space at the time of enrollment, students are assigned to another school.

If students want to attend a neighborhood school outside of their residence area, they must submit an online Schools of Choice/Transfer Application.
*Twins will be placed together, according to the priority above. Twins who are assigned a random eligibility number will be placed according to the number of the twin with the highest place on the waiting list.
